Best colors for performance hats
The nine approved NOGNS colorways aren't equivalent. Here's how to think about picking one.

Color on a performance cap isn't only aesthetic. It affects heat load, visibility, how quickly the hat shows wear, and how far it travels between contexts.
The neutrals
Black — the widest-range colorway. Reads clean across training, court, travel. Absorbs the most heat in direct sun; shows sweat less; shows lint more.
Nardo Grey — the most versatile mid-tone. Reads neutral in almost any context. Hides light dirt.
Sand — reflective, warm, refined. The best neutral for hot outdoor sun.
White — the most refined and the most reflective. Also the fastest to show wear.
The training colors
Neon Orange — highest visibility. Best for road running in low light.
Bright Red — high visibility with slightly more everyday range.
Electric Blue, Kelly Green, Hot Pink — dedicated performance colorways that read as training pieces rather than daily rotation.
The two-hat rotation
If you buy two: pair a neutral (Black, Nardo Grey, or Sand) with a training color that matches your dominant use.
